Veripalvelu®-laboratory services

The Blood Service offers laboratory tests and assays to hospitals, health care centres, clinics and private laboratories, and performs the donor and blood product testing needed in the Blood Service’s own operations. The Blood Service laboratory employs some 100 laboratory professionals and annually performs almost 2 million laboratory tests. The laboratory is located in Vantaa.

All our tests and assays are described in Finnish in the examination guidebook:

High-quality laboratory services

The laboratory functions of the Blood Service are based on reliable laboratory results and expertise. Our goal is to continuously develop laboratory services, increase customer satisfaction, and improve the standard of service and efficiency.

The FINAS accreditation service has accredited the majority of blood group, histocompatibility and infection tests (Test laboratory T119, accreditation requirement SFS-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017, SFS-EN ISO 15189:2013).

Histocompatibility tests have also been accredited by the European Federation for Immunogenics (EFI).

The laboratory functions also meet the requirements of blood donors’ tests and quality control requirements for blood and plasma products. They are being supervised by the Finnish Medicines Agency Fimea.
