An expired ID card cannot be used for identification when donating blood from 1st of March 2024

As of 1st of March 2024, blood donors can only verify their identity with a valid ID. For example, an expired passport is no longer sufficient to prove identity.

To prove your identity at the donation point, please use:

• your driving license
• passport
• government-issued ID card
• mobile driving license
• professional driver’s qualification card

If the identity document does not contain a Finnish personal identity code, separate proof of your identity code will also be required (such as a Kela-card or a certificate from the Local Register Office, the Digital and Population Data Services Agency or a certificate of personal ID code from the Finnish Tax Administration).
