A stay of more than 20 hours in France between 29 June and 30 November results in a donation deferral of 28 days. The deferral does not apply to plasma donation. This restriction applies to the whole country. The donation deferral is due to a seasonal epidemic of the West Nile virus, and the deferral period begins from the date of return to Finland.

At other times of the year, travelling in France does not constitute a separate obstacle to donating blood.
