If you have travelled in the malaria-risk area (in the Kur-Arax Lowland between the Kura and Aras rivers), you must wait six months before donating blood. The waiting period does not apply to plasma donation.

Travelling elsewhere in the country results in a 28-day donation deferral period and living in the country results in a three-month donation deferral period. The deferral does not apply to plasma donation. The capital, Baku, and the coastal areas are not malaria-risk areas.
