Blood donation in progress at the Blood Service in Vantaa – two men and one woman participating.

Hey there, Turku folks!

Have you ever donated blood? 🙂 We need more new blood donors in Turku, so patients have enough blood products in hospitals. Roll up your sleeve and become a lifesaver!

Aiming for 1,250 new blood donors in Turku

In 2026 our goal is to encourage 1,250 first-time donors to donate blood. More new donors are needed because currently only about 3% of people in donation age donate blood annually, and some donors have to stop due to health reasons.

Last year, Blood Service Turku had a total of 12,595 blood donors, of which 944 were first-time donors. It would be important to get more new blood donors this year. Could we get over 1,200 people in Turku to try donating blood? Come and try blood donation. Donating just once a year makes a real difference. ❤️

First-time donor?

If you have never donated blood before, you can start by taking the “Can I Donate?” test using the button below.

First-time donors should reserve about an hour for their blood donation. If possible, try to arrive well before closing time and avoid booking the last slot of the day so you have time to rest and enjoy some refreshments after donating.
