Book the most important moment of the New Year – donate blood
Patients are treated in hospitals every day, including during public holidays. Blood products have relatively short shelf lives and cannot be stored for long periods in advance. For example, platelet products, which are vital for cancer patients, can only be stored for up to one week
Blood donors have been active during the Christmas week – a warm thank you to everyone who has helped and already booked an appointment! However, donors are still needed around the New Year.
Blood donation centres are open on:
- Boxing Day 26 December
- Monday–Wednesday 29–31 December 2025 and Friday 2 January 2026
- Monday 5 January 2026
On New Year’s Day, Thursday 1 January, and on Epiphany, Tuesday 6 January, blood donation centres are closed.
Please check the opening hours of your nearest donation centre or blood donation events on our website.
Around the the New Year, blood donation events will be organised across Finland:
29th of December
30th of December
- Parainen
- Kouvola
- Tornio
- Ikea Espoo (Blood Donation Bus)
- Forssa
31st of December
- Inkoo
- Hyvinkää
- Hämeenlinna
- Tuuri
(Note: Due to this event, the Seinäjoki donation site will be closed on Wednesday 31 December) - Vantaa, Kivistö (Blood Donation Bus)
You are welcome to donate blood with an appointment or to drop in without one. If there is space, we are happy to welcome donors without an appointment as well.
And remember – if you are unable to donate blood yourself, encouraging people close to you is a valuable way to help.
