Donor app

The Blood Service app already has over 100,000 users! 🥳 Have you started using the app? With it, you can get your donation information directly to your phone. Now you can also receive virtual Lifesaver badges from your visits!

the app for blood donors

In the first phase, you will be able to see e.g.

  • your next possible donation date,
  • your previous visits,
  • your haemoglobin levels measured at a donation session, and
  • your blood group.

You can also:

  • Search for donation locations near you
  • Find links to appointment booking and the blood donor health questionnaire
  • Edit and save your contact information (phone number and email)
  • Receive virtual Lifesaver badges that thank you for donating blood and can be shared on social media

If you are not yet a blood donor, you can still download the app. Your visit information will be visible once you have donated blood for the first time. Your blood group information will be visible in the app the day after the donation.

In the application, you can see information about your previous blood donation visits, but the blood donation times you have booked or the health questionnaire you have completed are not yet visible in it. However, you can access these services through the application.

The app is continuously being developed, and in the future, appointment booking is intended to become part of the app.

The Blood Service communicates emergency situations through the application

The Blood Service can inform blood donors through the application in acute critical situations, such as major accident situations.

The emergency message feature is used only in exceptional emergencies, and not in regular communication. Please allow notifications from the application. Then you will also receive messages from the Blood Service regarding exceptional situations directly to your phone.

Receiving emergency messages requires allowing notifications sent by the Blood Service on your phone.

Here’s how you can ensure that you receive Blood Service’s emergency messages directly to your phone:

  1. Download the app or update it to the latest version (1.2 or newer).
  2. Allow the app to send notifications to your phone. (Phone settings > Blood Service > Notifications > Allow notifications)

In the phone settings, you can check if you have allowed the app to send notifications. You can also check if you have already updated the app to the latest version and, if you wish, enable automatic updates.

Notice! It is advisable to update the application via the App Store or Google Play.
