Student organizations at the University of Jyväskylä compete against each other in good spirit. In VeriRallit, the competition is about which student organization donates the most blood – in other words, helps patients as much as possible!
How do I take part in VeriRallit?
- Book an appointment to donate blood
- Show up
- Tell the nurse the name of your student organization
- Donate blood
Take part in the campaign between 9 March and 30 April 2026. The campaign continues in the autumn 5 October–27 November 2026.
The unique VeriRallit overall patch is available only in Jyväskylä
The campaign’s unique overall patch is available only at the Jyväskylä donation site. So visit Jyväskylä if you want the patch. Otherwise, you can still participate in the campaign by donating blood at any blood donation site anywhere in Finland. Tell the nurse the name of your student organization, and your donation visit will earn the organization one point.
Because everything is more fun together, bring your course mates along to donate blood! Together you’ll collect more points and help more patients! 😉
How to donate blood
- Find your nearest donation site and book an appointment. You can also drop by to ask about available times while passing by.
- Fill in the health questionnaire no earlier than the day before donation.
- Register at the donation site with a photo ID (a driving licence is fine!).
- Drink a glass of juice or water.
- Tell the nurse right at the beginning of the interview that you are participating in VeriRallit.
- The nurse will go through the health questionnaire and measure your haemoglobin from a finger prick.
- The blood donation itself takes about ten minutes.
- Enjoy coffee and a snack after donating.
- Relax and enjoy the rest of your day.

Coming for the first time?
If you’ve never donated blood before, you can start by checking if you are eligible to donate. First-timers should plan to spend about an hour for the whole donation process. If possible, try to arrive well before closing time and avoid booking the last appointment of the day, so you have time to rest and enjoy your coffee afterward.
