The Blood Service is developing its emergency communications on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025
The Blood Service will test emergency communication tools in Finnish, Swedish, and English on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025. The test will not require any action from blood donors.

The test message will clearly indicate that it is only a test. To receive emergency messages, you must have the latest version of the Donor application installed and allow notifications from the Blood Service in your phone settings.
How to ensure you receive emergency messages from the Blood Service:
- Download the Donor app or update it to the latest version.
- Allow notifications from the application on your phone.
You can check your phone settings to confirm that notifications are enabled for the Donor application. At the same time, make sure the app is up to date. You can also enable automatic updates if desired.
The emergency messaging feature allows the Blood Service to communicate with blood donors in acute, critical situations (for example, in the event of a major accident). This feature is only used in exceptional emergency situations.
