Helena Länsimies appointed as Customer Relations Director at the Blood Service
Helena Länsimies has been appointed as Customer Relations Director at the Blood Service, effective April 1, 2026. In her new role, Länsimies will lead the Blood Service's clinical customer relations unit and develop cooperation with the Blood Service's customers, the healthcare providers. She will transfer to the Blood Service from her current position as project director for the City of Kuopio.
Helena Länsimies holds a doctorate in health sciences and has a long and diverse background in healthcare. Länsimies has worked at Kuopio University Hospital in various managerial and leadership positions in nursing, administration, and research.
“The Blood Service is an important partner for healthcare, as it ensures the daily availability of blood products needed by patients. I am excited about my new role, which allows me to be part of this chain of help”, says Helena Länsimies.
The unit led by Länsimies develops blood supply chain practices and the safety of blood transfusions in collaboration with customers. Blood Service doctors support hospitals around the clock in matters related to blood, stem cell, and organ transplants. The team also monitors the adverse effects of blood transfusions and trains healthcare professionals.
