Fewer donation days during Midsummer week – need for blood products remains unchanged
Blood donation is important also during the Midsummer holidays. During Midsummer week, there are fewer donation days than usual, but hospitals need blood for patient care just as they do during a normal week. Blood Service donation sites are open from 15 to 18 June 2026 and closed on Friday, 19 June. From Monday, 22 June onwards, donation sites return to their normal weekday schedule.
You can donate while on holiday
Summer offers an opportunity to donate blood in a new location. You can donate, for example, at your summer cottage destination or along your travel route.
The Blood Service has permanent donation sites across Finland, and in addition, donation events are organised daily in different locations. In the Helsinki metropolitan area, donors are served at Sanomatalo in Helsinki, Iso Omena in Espoo, Jumbo in Vantaa, and the Blood Donation Bus.
Book an appointment or drop in
You can donate blood with or without an appointment. It is advisable to check available slots in advance via the Blood Service’s booking service, but you are also welcome to drop in – if there is space, we will gladly accept donors.
A summer edition of refreshing sparkling water for donors is now available for a limited time at all blood donation sites, including the Blood Donation Bus.
Happy Midsummer!
