The Finnish Reservists’ Association’s fifth blood donation campaign begins

The Finnish Reservists’ Association and the Blood Service are once again joining to organize the nationwide Reserviläinen ei luovuta – paitsi verta blood donation campaign. The campaign period is 2 March–29 May 2026.

The challenge campaign aims to highlight the importance of blood donation. Donors play a significant role in Finland’s security of supply and preparedness.

Finland continually needs new blood donors to ensure patient care in all situations. Currently, only 3% of the population of donation age donate blood annually. Every new donor strengthens the resilience of the blood supply and ensures that blood is available for those who need it now and in the future. The campaign offers an excellent opportunity to invite first time donors to join.

This year, the campaign’s patron is Colonel Eero Svanberg, Inspector of Voluntary National Defence. He encourages the local associations of the Reservists’ Association and their members to participate actively:

“Many things in the world happen on their own, but a good deed requires someone to do it. Donating blood is a concrete way to help. Donate blood, it is a good deed,” Svanberg says.

The nationwide blood donation campaign is now being organized for the fifth time. Last year, reservists donated blood 322 times.
