Blood donation is Wonderfully easy

Blood donation is an important matter and a lifeline for many people,” says Kristo Salminen. Have you donated blood? 🙂

This is how easy donating blood is

  1. Book an appointment or drop by.
  2. A nurse will go through the health questionnaire with you.
  3. Relax. Donating blood takes only about ten minutes.
  4. Enjoy the snacks and take it easy for the rest of the day.

Good to remember before donating blood

  1. You can eat and drink normally.
  2. Bring an ID card (a driving licence is also accepted).
  3. Fill in the blood donor health questionnaire in advance to save time. Please note that the questionnaire can be completed no earlier than the day before the donation.

After donating, you can share on social media how #WonderfullyEasy blood donation is and remember to tag @veripalvelu.

Blood donor = lifesaver

Donated blood is used to produce blood components for hospitals, where they are vital for patients such as accident victims, cancer patients, new mothers, and surgical patients. This is why voluntary blood donors are an invaluable help to those in need.

This year, 22,000 new blood donors are needed to ensure that Finland has a sufficient and diverse donor base to safeguard patient care now and in the future. At the moment, only about 3 percent of Finnish adults donate blood annually — and that is too few. Most of us are eligible to donate blood!
